I have been playing Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies lately, and it is a lot of FUN. Not only is it an adventure roleplaying game, but but but...you also get to play dress up with your characters and see what it looks like on your characters. Anyways, my favorite outfit so far has been a Princess Robe I alchemized. It is not the best picture and is a bit blurry, but I think it is enough to get the idea. Isn't it a pretty dress...AND it has very good statistics too.

I love the dress-up element of Dorakue IX too! And it is SUCH a wonderful story, isn't it? I adore the Doll Story especially! Isn't it annoying that there isn't a good way to take screenshots? Here is a picture of the Princess Robe so you all can see what it looks like! I never got that when I played. Urayamashii!

Oh oh! Thank you for showing the picture. I got the Princess Robe by doing alchemy, which is also a LOT of fun!
Yes, the doll story was wonderful. I also liked the story of the selfish Queen who became a good Queen.

Who needs an elixir of life when alchemy can get you *that*?

Heee...I know! Oh yes, and there is a useful component to looking pretty in the game. When you are wearing pretty outfits, sometimes the monsters (even Bosses) lose a turn because they are enthralled by your appearance! Sometimes, they are *so* enthralled that they become paralyzed! I always feel a bit bad attacking the monsters then. It seems a little unfair. I mean, I *do*, but it feels rather mean.

I am so glad you told me about the Princess Robe, Kiyoku-san! I alchemised one too, and I just love it! Isn't the way it moves while walking around just the prettiest? And it has really improved my Mage's defence too!
Oh oh! I loved the doll story too! I have to admit it made me cry!

Actually the phenomenon of enemies being enthralled by one's appearance reminds me of Melonpanna's Melon-Melon-punch in Anpanman. The punch does not actually hurt the enemy but makes the eyes turn into hearts and the enemy mumble lovey things! I REALLY wanted to post a clip here but it seems YouTube is in the process of removing all the Anpanman episodes. So sad! Anyway, here is a picture of dear Melonpanna (right) with her poor sister Rollpanna-chan who has a good heart and a bad heart, thanks to enemy meddling and always hides her poor, dear self.

Oh thank you Dolly-chan! I have only seen a couple of episodes of Anpanman, but it was good! How sad that they are coming off of YouTube.

It really is sad. Nearly all of them are Japanese-only but it is very easy Japanese and the stories aren't hard to follow, so it is excellent for practice.
I have some epis - well hee! You have seen some of them!

Oh yes...and here is the recipe for the Princess Robe:
A Shimmering Dress and a Monarchic Mark.
The Shimmering Dress is not *too* hard to make or get. The recipe for that is:
1 Spangled Dress (which you can buy) 1 Pink Pearl 3 Brighten Rocks
The Monarchic Mark is much harder. You need:
1 Lucky Pendant 1 Raging Ruby 1 Ruby of Protection
The Lucky Pendant is the hardest to get, because you need a Reckless Necklace (which is actually a cursed item...but don't sell it, when you get it). When I was reading about it, you get one pre-game, and then you can not get more until later post-game grottos!

The only thing I don't like about Dragon Quest (and other RPG's) is that you go through peoples houses and take things from their closets and drawers, and break their pots and barrels. It seems so rude, especially when you are visiting nice people.

If you were saving *my* world from destruction, I wouldn't mind a bit if you rifled through my belongings for certain necessities.
